2008 Short Ends Cabernet Sauvignon
When making a movie, and there is not enough film left in the camera for another take, we replace the magazine and call the left over film stock; "Short Ends." Similarly, after crafting our Hollywood and Vine "2480" wines, we often have a little wine left from each of our world-class vineyard sources, and we blend those "Short Ends" into this remarkable and uniquely delicious Napa Valley Cabernet.
Tasting Notes
VARIETAL COMPOSITION: Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon (83%), Napa Valley Merlot (14%), and Napa Valley Cabernet Franc (3%).
WINEMAKER NOTES: The Hollywood and Vine 2008 Short Ends Cabernet Sauvignon is a brighter, fresher, slightly more lighthearted version of the flagship 2480 Cabernet Sauvignon. This lovely blend balances a juicy, fresh cherry/raspberry approachability with a more sultry and serious dark chocolate/mocha/cigar box character. Harvested between September 10, 2008 and October 14, 2008, different vineyard blocks were fermented on skins for up to three weeks, gently pressed and transferred to barrels for eight months prior to blending. After blending, the wine was returned to small French oak barrels for a total of approximately 19 months in prior to bottling in early June of 2010.
ANALYSIS: Alcohol 14.5% by volume.
CASES PRODUCED: 675.
